Julya Bonkat is a senior subsurface leader and experienced petroleum Engineer with over 20 years’ experience across the full subsurface value chain, working across the UK, Norwegian Continental Shelf, and international assets.
She currently leads Subsurface Strategy, Capability and Assurance at Adura UK, where she drives integration & transformation initiatives, data & digital strategy, and partner‑operated asset value delivery. Prior to this, Julya held a number of senior strategic, operational and technical leadership roles at Equinor, including Head of the UK Subsurface Competence Centre overseeing recruitment, talent identification, career development, and resource management for a team of more than 50 subsurface professionals and prior to that was the Subsurface Operations Leader and Discipline Leader for Production Technology for the Mariner field in Equinor UK.
Julya is known for combining strong technical depth with a strategic and commercial mindset. She led multidisciplinary teams through complex operational, partner‑operated, and JV environments, delivering safe,efficient production and long‑term asset value. She is particularly passionate about people development, capability building, and fostering cultures of continuous learning and innovation.
